About

A marketing designer fluent in UX.

I'm Ting Ting — a Senior Marketing Designer with 15+ years spanning brand strategy and user experience. I design campaigns and digital experiences that are measured in conversion, retention, and revenue, not just aesthetics.

My specialty is global-to-local translation — adapting U.S.-built platforms for Traditional Chinese markets, where reading patterns, merchandising logic, and shopping behavior all differ. I've led this work for Costco and Melaleuca, partnering daily with product, engineering, and marketing.

TL;DR — 30-second summary

Costco Taiwan's e-commerce contributed only 4% of total revenue: the interface was mirrored from the U.S. site, lacked mobile optimization, and ignored local shopping behavior. I led the localization and mobile-first redesign, validated through A/B testing.

01Context & problem

Despite strong retail success, the digital channel was underperforming. The site was a direct mirror of the U.S. platform — outdated visual language, desktop-first layouts, and information architecture built around English reading patterns and U.S. merchandising logic.

The result: low engagement and high cart abandonment among Taiwanese shoppers, whose expectations were shaped by local e-commerce leaders.

📝 To addOne "before" screenshot with 2–3 annotated pain points (e.g., too many checkout steps, buried mobile navigation). An annotated before-shot shows your analytical eye better than ten polished after-shots.

02Research & insights

  • Insight 1: Traditional Chinese reading patterns changed how users scanned category pages — [ add your actual finding and its source: analytics? interviews? usability testing? ]
  • Insight 2: Local merchandising expectations (promotion logic, price-comparison habits) required a different product-card hierarchy.
  • Insight 3: Mobile traffic share vs. mobile conversion rate revealed the biggest gap — [ add numbers ].
📝 To addThis section is what UX interviewers care about most — and it's currently missing from your site. Even informal research (support-team feedback, GA data) is worth writing up. The point is showing your decisions were grounded in evidence.

03Design decisions

Three principles drove the redesign — each traceable to a research insight:

  • Hyper-localization: restructured layouts and typography for Traditional Chinese reading patterns and local merchandising needs — not just translated strings.
  • Mobile-first flows: rebuilt navigation and checkout to cut friction on the highest-traffic device.
  • Test, don't guess: partnered with marketing to A/B test key templates, letting data settle design debates.

📝 To addPick the one design decision you're proudest of and show "version A vs. version B + why B won + the test result". One deep decision beats ten final screens.

04Outcome & reflection

  • +40% membership growth — friendlier sign-up flows lowered the barrier to entry. (State the time window and how it was measured for credibility.)
  • Longer mobile sessions after navigation was streamlined. [ add number ]
  • A reusable global-to-local framework the team could apply to future markets.

What I'd do differently: [ add 1–2 sentences of reflection — senior-level interviewers weigh this heavily; it shows you learn from projects, not just ship them. ]
